The goal of our Society is to revive the music of these composers, to inform about their works, and to make both the music and the publications written about and by them available to the public. Above all, the Society aims to bring their works to the concert stage, the radio and into recorded format. In their lifetimes, their compositions – written primarily in the late romantic style – were frequently performed by acclaimed directors such as Arthur Nikisch and Max Reger.

Both Pfohl and Woyrsch were born in today’s Czech Republic, though they lived, for the most part, i Hamburg and Altona respectively (the latter being a neighbouring town amalgamated with Hamburg in 1937). The Pfohl-Woyrsch Society, based in Hamburg, was founded in 1993 in the Czech Republic by a group of Czechs and Germans who care deeply about preserving and publicizing the work of these gifted composers.

The Society issues newsletters about its activities and provides special coverage on historical and topical themes about Pfohl and Woyrsch, their lives and works. The Society welcomes all interested persons and would appreciate any support through donations and/or volunteer time. The Society's annual membership fee is currently set at 15 Euro.
